Welcome to YaGoohoo!gle

This site started as an April Fool's post on Slashdot, and the saying was that the fool wasn't even any good. I got a fair amount of hits with people searching for "haha", "funny", "april fool", and "bonesaw". Bonesaw? But then traffic rose. I started receiving feedback. The router crashed (I later found out that the DDoS-logic had kicked in). I've got several offers for hosting the site, and donations have started coming in. There are currently 40,500 Google hits and 50,100 Yahoo! hits for "yagoohoogle". The Inquirer and Spiegel (de) has written about it. In this blog I'll try to keep you up to date about the site's status and also searching tips. Comments from anyone are welcome, but I require registered Blogger users (aren't you one already??!) to avoid comment spam. Enjoy YaGoohoo!gle, and keep comparing search results!

I sent you a email about an the idea of offering a side bar of your website. But I forgot to add that you could also try to submit a search engine thing in Firefox on the top right hand corner!! Just an Idea!! Great website though!!! Two thumbs up!!!!

The next thing you should think about in my personal opinion is some type of tool bar and put a place on the site to send donations. Chris Ellis, MWSC

yagoohoogle is a good idea.. but please check, when u include characters like # or % in the search string (like c#.net) .. it does not produce actual results.. it get stripped off.. the reason could be it doesnt parse query string correctly

On your top bar you could return to your main page when you click on the YaGoohoo!gle image, much like clicking on the Google or Yahoo image.

A friend just sent me your link very cool idea.

See if you can parse ad search by google so you can get paid for the links if someone clicks there. It's only a couple of pennies but hey, a couple million of a couple of pennies is a good thing!

Definitely clever! An interesting twist on meta-search. Sounds like there is a lot of potential for it to grow.

Mate, that rocks. I just threw the code into my blog. If you aren't a millionaire next week I'd be very suprised. What a cool idea!

Hmmm... Nice move, but not quite new idea. I myself have a search-page that is JavaScript driven and that searches FOUR different engines at the same time. And that's been there for meny years (only changed what engines I use, started long before Yahoo and Google). Take at look at it at:

Thanks a lot Asgeir,
I have seen it in the news posted at The Inquirer by "INQUIRER staff". I have no idea how many "staff" members were involved, but it seems it was so hard to them to "inquire" who was the author of YaGoohoogle so that they even didn't mention your name. :)
Anyway, I added your search engine to my Best Search Engines (all in one) page.
